Assemblage/mixed media on hardboard, 2” cradled 18 x 24 inches
The ephemeral and mercurial Earl presents an empty oyster shell harvested on a beach in the South China Sea. With the prompt, “crusty old curmudgeon”, driftwood and other found elements are collaged with drawings to represent a weathered portrait of Earl.
Acrylic gouache on Claybord, framed 16 x 20 inches
As the water rises, a contemplative Earl stands on the shore of a remote Key West beach, reassessing his life and questioning his choices. Inspired by driftwood and it’s precarious and wandering existence.
Acrylic gouache on Claybord, 1-1/2” cradled 16 x 20 inches
The subject of his own noir graphic novel, Earl is once again combing the beach looking for answers while listening to his favorite Tom Waites album, Swordfishtrombones. Inspired by the restaurant decor and color palette , including the mermaid figurehead, sailfish, American flags, and other elements.
